A Gospel of Stars by EJ LeRoy is an immersive and intriguing adventure as the story runs the gamut from cute to unspeakably cruel with page-turning finesse. Being unfamiliar with Henry's prior adventures was not an issue in reading this. I found the characters relatable and necessarily flawed, each with his own demons to fight. Goodreads Amazon Set in the intergalactic future, the story follows Henry, heir to the family spice business, a devout Christian with some knowledge o

Last Writes is a collection of poetry on the difficult subjects of death, grief and raw emotion. This is the first of Colclasure's poetry collections I've read. It was a random selection from among this prolific writer's many intriguing works, and turned out to be a highly relatable read for me, as some years ago I also suddenly lost someone I deeply loved. This is the third book I've read by author Sandra Cox, and the way it's going, it won't be the last. Upbeat, witty, a well-woven narrative with plenty of twists and turns, Geller's Find is a genre mashup in true Western style, as archaeologist Luke Geller plunges back to the 1882 and meets tough but soft-hearted rancher Lily Winter Tremaine. Take your average everyday celebrity chef, mix in an antique shop and an old lamp not for sale at (almost) any price, and you have the setting for a hilarious, clever and page-turning read. Throw in a gorgeous genie from ancient history, her unpredictable brother, scurrilous villains, a dash of magic, and let the antics begin! As a longtime publisher on Draft2Digital I've seen the deterioration of this company from being easy and helpful to greedy and author-hostile. Many indie authors once regarded Draft2Digital (D2D) as a hero in the self-publishing world, but that has drastically turned into a zero. I thoroughly enjoyed Foster Road, a gripping tale of supernatural evil by Thomas Muller. The Warner family moves into a big old house with plenty of acreage, and dad Greg has his hands full with repairs, cooking breakfast, meeting the locals and mediating between his two daughters. When I purchased Gwen Slade, Bounty Hunter (Kindle Edition) by Sandra Cox, I expected dynamic action, a strong female lead, authentic Old West flavour and the perils for forbidden romance. What I got was all that, and more. Join me on Bluesky Author Sandra Cox weaves a tale with such finesse it's impossible to stop reading. And I certainly didn't expect that sly twist toward the end! Characters are relatable, fraught with their own demons, consumed by their own desires and mo

I truly enjoyed The Devil's Own, a historical mystery spy thriller and the fourteenth book in Wendy Baynes' Crimes Against the Crown series. This multi-layered and intricately woven tale centres on the Eglinton Tournament of August 28-30 1839. Amazon Goodreads A hugely expensive event held in North Ayrshire, Scotland, the tournament is a spectacular reenactment of a medieval jousting match. Contestants provide authentic period armour, ladies swoon to the courtly fashions of m
