Young Tabitha relies on her older sister Kerri and her kindly German grandmother at the Ravenhurst family home for love and support since the bizarre deaths of their parents. But one night, all that changes when she takes a fateful trip to the kitchen after bedtime, and sees a gruesome sight.
When she runs from the house, the ensuing investigation destroys Oma emotionally. The lives of Tabitha and Kerri take dramatically different turns. On their return to Ravenhurst on Oma's death, sparks fly between the sisters, while Tabitha's friend Asim and college journalist Doug appear, either to help or hinder proceedings.
Family tensions, trauma, dramatic action, snappy dialogue, multi-layered characters and an ominous secluded setting resonate throughout this horror mystery to keep the pages turning and curiosity burning. Is Oma a psychotic killer, or the innocent victim of a child's misguided mind?
The pace picks up as the story continues, to culminate in a blistering crescendo no one saw coming. This intense psychological horror will creep you out long after you've finished reading. Highly recommended.
